Frequently asked questions
Will the file really be under 200KB?
Yes. The compressor keeps the file at or below the target, using 1KB = 1000 bytes so it passes whether a site counts kilobytes as 1000 or 1024 bytes.
Why did the dimensions of my image change?
When a target is too small for the full-size image, lowering the quality alone would make it blocky. The compressor reduces the pixel dimensions instead, so the result stays clear. Tick “Keep original dimensions” to change only the quality.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser. The image never leaves your device.
Which formats are supported?
JPG, PNG and WebP, plus anything else your browser can open. The result is always a JPG, the format most forms accept. Transparent areas of a PNG become white. iPhone HEIC photos open in Safari; in other browsers, convert them to JPG first.
Is it free?
Yes, completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many images you compress.
