What is a ZATCA e-invoice?

ZATCA (the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority) requires businesses in Saudi Arabia to issue electronic tax invoices. A simplified tax invoice — typically issued to consumers — must include a QR code that encodes the seller’s name, VAT registration number, the invoice timestamp, the total amount including VAT, and the VAT amount. This tool builds that exact Phase-1 QR payload (a Base64-encoded TLV string) and places it on a clean, bilingual invoice.

A note on Phase 2 (Integration): Phase 2 additionally requires each invoice to carry a cryptographic hash and digital signature generated by a ZATCA-onboarded unit and cleared through the Fatoora platform. No browser tool can produce those on its own. If your business needs Phase-2 e-invoicing built into your POS, billing system or a custom app, that is exactly the kind of thing we build.

Frequently asked questions

Is this ZATCA invoice generator free?

Yes. It is completely free, needs no account, and runs entirely in your browser — your invoice data is never uploaded to any server.

What does the QR code contain?

It encodes the five fields ZATCA requires for a simplified tax invoice (Phase 1): seller name, VAT registration number, invoice timestamp, invoice total including VAT, and the VAT amount — as a Base64 TLV string, which is what a ZATCA scanner reads.

Does it support Phase 2 (integration / Fatoora) e-invoicing?

The invoice and QR follow the Phase-1 (generation) format. Phase 2 adds a cryptographic stamp, hash and digital signature that can only be produced by a ZATCA-onboarded system (EGS). If you need Phase-2 integration built into your own billing app or POS, AHK Studios can build it for you.

What VAT rate does it use?

15% by default for Saudi Arabia. You can switch to 5% for the UAE or 0% for zero-rated supplies, and totals recalculate instantly.

Is the invoice bilingual?

Yes — key labels appear in both English and Arabic, which ZATCA requires on tax invoices in Saudi Arabia.

Need ZATCA built into your own app?

We build custom POS, billing and invoicing systems with full ZATCA Phase-2 integration — as web apps or mobile apps — for businesses across Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. Tell us what you need and get a free quote.
