How to add 18% GST
Multiply the net amount by 0.18 to get the GST, then add it on. For example, 1,000.00 INR net + 180.00 INR GST = 1,180.00 INR gross.
How to remove GST from a price
Divide the GST-inclusive amount by 1.18. For example, 1,000.00 INR including GST ÷ 1.18 = 847.46 INR net, so the GST is 152.54 INR. Subtracting 18% of the gross instead would give 820.00 INR, which understates the net amount. It's the most common GST mistake.
