Frequently asked questions
How is end of service calculated in Saudi Arabia?
You receive half a month's wage for each of your first five years and a full month's wage for each year after that, based on your last wage. For example, SAR 10,000 for six years is (5 × 5,000) + (1 × 10,000) = SAR 35,000.
How much end of service do I get if I resign?
Nothing if you resign before two years. You get one third of the award after two to five years, two thirds after five to ten years, and the full award after ten years. In the example above, resigning after six years gives two thirds of SAR 35,000, about SAR 23,333.
Is end of service based on basic salary or total salary?
On your last wage, which generally includes basic salary and fixed allowances such as housing and transport, but not commissions or variable bonuses. Check how your contract defines your wage.
Do I lose my end-of-service award if I'm dismissed?
If your employer ends the contract, you're normally entitled to the full award. Dismissal under Article 80, for serious misconduct, can remove the entitlement.
