Adding 20% VAT (France) to your net amount.
How to add 20% VAT
Multiply the net amount by 0.2 to get the VAT, then add it on. For example, 1,000.00 EUR net + 200.00 EUR VAT = 1,200.00 EUR gross.
How to remove VAT from a price
Divide the VAT-inclusive amount by 1.2. For example, 1,000.00 EUR including VAT ÷ 1.2 = 833.33 EUR net, so the VAT is 166.67 EUR. Subtracting 20% of the gross instead would give 800.00 EUR, which understates the net amount. It's the most common VAT mistake.
